The Old Man, 6 feet x 6 feet x 6 feet, mixed enamel on Styrofoam, mixed media, found objects, 1999. This piece was created while I was at grad school; I had come across an old photo of Karl Marx, which looked very much like the traditional depiction of JHVH from the Old Testament. I enlarged that image by hand and propped it up with a small human skull. Besides being a sly nod to Zardoz, this piece directly comes out of the Theosophy is Anthropology theories of Elaine Pagel's books.
